Frequently Asked Questions About the Brazilian and Bikini
Wax
What to Expect
What
is a Brazilian Wax?
You may choose to have everything taken off, which is
described on our menu as “the nude,” or
leave a shape in front, usually a strip or a triangle,
which we describe as “the Brazilian.”
What
is a Bikini Wax?
The bikini wax removes only the hair in the bikini line
area.
Does
the Brazilian or Bikini Wax hurt?
Our experienced and trained estheticians use the bare-able
method, which minimizes the discomfort associated with
this process. Your esthetician may ask for your assistance
in holding the skin taut. You might not want to wax
four days before or four days after your menstrual cycle,
and some find it is a little more painful on those days.
Being overly tired, feeling under the weather, or taking
antibiotics can also increase discomfort. Regardless
of your level of sensitivity, a trained and experienced
esthetician makes a world of difference!
How
Long will the Results of a Brazilian or Bikini Wax last?
Hair grows at different rates for everyone, but you
will notice that after a few brazilian and bikini waxes,
the hair will start to grow back much slower and will
be much finer.
Can
I get a Brazilian or Bikini Wax if I am pregnant?
Yes, but please make sure to clear this with your doctor.
Just like waxing when you are menstruating, being pregnant
can cause increased sensitivity during and after your
wax.
When
Not to Wax:
We cannot perform a Brazilian wax or any other kind
of waxing service under the following conditions:
1. If you are using any Retinol products i.e., Retin
A or Renova, on your bikini line or brow area.
2. If you have used Accutane within the last 6 months.
3. If you have any kind of sunburn or laser burn on
an area to be waxed.
4. If you have been diagnosed with any type of STD.
5. If you are diabetic, we will need a doctor’s
note approving your waxing service.
Bikini
Line Care
After a brazilian or bikini wax, it is important to
take care of the treated area. You should be as careful
with your bikini line as you are with your face. It
is a delicate area and should not be ignored.
Ingrown
hairs
Certain people have a tendency to develop ingrown hairs.
Exfoliation helps. Using Waxing Gurus products for pre-
and post-waxing can help lessen the occurrence of ingrown
hairs, and is highly recommended for taking care of
the bikini line area in general.
How
to Prepare for Your Brazilian / Bikini Wax
For
a Brazilian / Bikini Wax to be successful, the hair
needs to be approximately a quarter of an inch long
(10 to 14 days’ growth). This guideline applies
especially to first time clients who have been shaving.
Stubble is difficult to remove if it is too short.
It
also helps to exfoliate your bikini line very gently
with a loofah the night before your Brazilian / Bikini
Wax. This will make the hair removal more successful.
Come
to your appointment relaxed. Being anxious about the
Brazilian / Bikini Wax can contribute to increased discomfort.
If at any time you are too uncomfortable to continue
with the waxing procedure, let your esthetician know
immediately. We understand that everyone tolerates discomfort
differently, but our clients definitely feel that the
results outweigh any discomfort.
Remember
that best results are achieved if you arrive freshly
showered. We do, however, offer sanitary wipes for your
convenience. We maintain the highest hygienic standards,
and pride ourselves in offering the finest personal
care available.
